We decided to go through Joshua Tree National Park as part of our last day's drive. We knew we wouldn't have time to spend there. It would be just a quick drive through, going south to north, lower elevation to a higher one. The higher we got the prettier it got. The ocotillo were interesting looking.

The cholla cactus look cute. They're called "jumping teddy bears". But it you touch them the little barbed spines will drive deep into your skin.

Then, of course, there were the Joshua Trees, lots of them.

After we left Joshua Tree, just as we were coming back onto route 10, we came to a different kind of forest.

The miles of windmills were amazing and were the finale to our road trip.
