I had fun at my first AKC trial. I had wanted to do a trial before the next CPE trial in late October. This one at the Industry Hills Expo Center was under cover which I decided even if the weather was warm would be under cover. I brought a thermometer to see how hot it got to be (about 93). Where Matilda was crated there was a little breeze. There was a vendor selling cooling coats and I bought one for Matilda. I think she liked it. She wasn't panting in her crate.
Our first run was Jumpers with Weaves. It went really well. The video is terrible, but here it is. We got a Q and 1st place, Novice Preferred.
Our Standard run was not good. Matilda took two off courses to the same tunnel. NQ There was video of this but it was even worse than the one above. It was very dark. I'll have to get a real video camera.
Finally, we did well again in FAST. The send was pretty easy, a jump to a tunnel. We got 61 points but lost two for being two seconds over the SCT. We got a Q and 2nd place. As it got warmer the flies bothered Matilda today. On the start line in FAST I had to get her attention from the fly that was buzzing her. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler.
